2023 Reimagine

You are invited to join us at our new fundraising event - Reimagine - where we celebrate the resilience of our clients, staff, and the Kern community we serve. Reimagine will be an immersive experience incorporating moving stories and art from survivors, delicious food, and networking opportunities with the movers and shakers of Kern County.

At The Open Door Network, we've recognized the generational opportunity our community has to disrupt the cycle of poverty and violence, to turn suffering into healing. Every day, our team of experts work with families and individuals with nowhere else to turn. With compassion and an unwavering belief in human potential our staff unlock the tools and resources Kern's most vulnerable need to begin again:

8,000 ways up

Since 2012, here at The Open Door Network (formerly Bakersfield Homeless Center and Alliance Against Family Violence and Sexual Assault) we've helped over 2,600 families find and support their own homes. That's over 8,000 people, half of whom are children.

5,110 guest

Since 2012, over 5,000 people - single women, moms, dads, and children - have found warm shelter at our homeless campus and domestic violence shelters when their only other option were the streets.

3,800 new jobs

With access to our employment specialist and workforce development department, more than 3,800 people have found new and better-paying opportunities to support their families. Currently, over 127 individuals are providing crucial services to Kern County and the City of Bakersfield such as litter clean up, recycling services, and animal shelter care.

1.7 million meals

Our 3 shelters are there for homeless single women and families who have nowhere else to turn. We've been honored to serve over one million hot meals to residents and community members since 2013. We are an agency committed to helping those entering our doors reimagine their lives. Where those in trauma and crisis can heal. An agency where compassion and patience nurture the resilience of all people.
